- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Activate yeast by mixing warm water and sugar in a small bowl; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt; add activated yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–8 minutes until smooth; let rise in an oiled bowl covered with a cloth for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For the topping, sauté minced garlic in olive oil, then stir in tomato puree, tomato paste, sugar, balsamic vinegar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper; simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking dish with olive oil; roll out dough to fit the dish and spread the sauce evenly over it.
- Top with halved tomatoes cut side up and sprinkle with grated Locatelli cheese; bake for approximately 40 minutes or until golden brown.
